After laying the secondary walls of the smoke chamber ( for a total of 8" fire rated CMU), setting 2 more flue liners and the backing block on each chimney and another course of 6" CMU around the perimeter, the chase is as up to roof level.
Tomorrow I will tear down the scaffold and clean up the Study so that the framers can get in there to work, continue stocking material on the roof to top out the chimney and lay the firebrick that were left out of the firebox so that the plumber could run the gas line for the log lighter/ log set. The corner CMU that were left out to install the 2" corner pole that supports the metal lintel across the firebox opening will also be laid.
